Onboarding at Sneakerama

Course Summary

In order to make sure that new hires to Sneakerama learn the basic necessities to perform effectively, I designed and developed online modules that cover the key concepts the job in a punctual and effective way.

The course uses scenario-based learning to create an engaging learning experience for new-hires. Learners are put directly into a scenario that has them perform their role by helping a customer in the store. This shows why the content being learned matters to their new role.

The scenarios are designed with “Fake-Branching” which allows learners to decide their actions and see the consequences of their actions, while redirecting them back onto the correct path by showing the scenario play out with the correct actions and ideal conclusion.

The consequences in this course are presented as customer returns. When the learner makes an incorrect action, a video is played that shows a dissatisfied customer either not buying or returning a shoe for a related reason. This helps learners adopt correct behaviors by allowing them to experience the consequences of their actions.

Key informational concepts, such as gait and shoe support type, are reinforced with drag and drop practice components.

There is an unguided assessment at the end of training that focuses on gait analysis. It presents videos of different gait types and asks the learner to identify the gait types correctly. If the learner passes, it indicates the learner is ready to do gait analysis with customers without guidance of a more experienced co-worker.
